Fish is an excellent source of lean protein, and I aim to include it in our family meals at least once a week. I’m pleased to partner with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute to share this simple Alaska pollock recipe that’s flavorful, wholesome and family-friendly.
Why Choose Alaska Pollock?
Alaska pollock is a sustainable, wild-caught option from the clean waters of the North Pacific. Because it isn’t farmed, it follows a natural diet and is free from artificial colours, preservatives, pesticides and GMOs. It’s a responsible choice if you want seafood that’s both healthy and environmentally mindful.
The Health Benefits of Alaska Pollock
Alaska pollock is very low in fat (under 1%) and an excellent source of high-quality protein, providing around 16 g of protein per 85 g portion. It also contributes omega-3 fatty acids and a range of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, D and E, and minerals such as zinc, iron, selenium and calcium. Eating complete, easily digestible protein supports muscle maintenance, a healthy metabolism and overall strength.
It’s no surprise Alaska pollock ranks highly among nutritious foods. For details about Alaska seafood nutrition, consult resources from official seafood organisations and nutrition guides.

What’s in this Alaska Pollock and Noodles Recipe?
This straightforward stir-fry uses frozen Alaska pollock fillets, medium dried egg noodles, a stir-fry vegetable mix, soy sauce and Chinese five spice. It’s a flexible recipe: use fresh vegetables or a frozen mix for an easy store-cupboard meal ready any night of the week.
The frozen vegetable option makes this dish especially useful on busy evenings when you don’t want to spend time chopping lots of produce. Of course, fresh vegetables work beautifully if you prefer them.

Can You Cook the Pollock from Frozen?
Yes. Alaska pollock cooks well from frozen or defrosted. To defrost safely, place the fillets in the fridge overnight or speed up the process by submerging the sealed package in cool water until thawed.
Can You Adapt This Stir-Fried Pollock and Noodles Recipe?
Absolutely. Swap the pollock for salmon if you prefer — Alaska salmon offers similar nutritional benefits and cooks the same way. You can also change the noodles for rice, or use different noodle types. To add heat, serve with chilli oil or fresh sliced chillies; a drizzle of sesame oil adds a pleasant nutty aroma.
What About Leftovers?
Freshly cooked fish is best, but leftovers will keep in the fridge for one day. Reheat gently to avoid drying out the fish, and refresh with a splash of soy sauce or a drizzle of sesame oil before serving.
