Mini Twix Tart Recipe: Caramel Chocolate Cookie Tarts

I adore Twix bars: shortbread, chewy caramel, and silky milk chocolate — pure perfection. These mini tarts capture those layers in a small, elegant bite. I used store-bought pre-baked tart shells to keep the recipe quick and stress-free: simply thaw and bake according to package directions, then let them cool.

For the caramel layer, I used my homemade caramel sauce because it’s creamy and melts in your mouth. If you prefer a chewier texture that more closely resembles the caramel in Twix bars, melt a bag of Kraft caramels in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth, then spoon into the tart shells. Fill each shell a little under halfway to avoid overflow when topping with chocolate.

Once the caramel is in place, add a generous layer of milk chocolate — the same chocolate type used in Twix. You can swap in semisweet or dark chocolate if you prefer a less sweet finish. Spoon or drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel; if you fill the tarts too high the caramel can spill, so err on the side of slightly less filling or drizzle the chocolate more lightly.

To finish, sprinkle chopped Mini Twix bars on top and drizzle extra caramel and melted chocolate for maximum indulgence. The combination of flaky tart shell, gooey caramel, smooth chocolate, and chopped Twix pieces gives you all the flavors and textures of a Twix bar in a fancy, bite-sized form.

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 12 store-bought tart shells

Caramel Filling:

  • 1 recipe homemade caramel sauce (or 1 bag Kraft caramels melted for a chewier filling)

Chocolate Topping:

  • 8 oz milk or semisweet chocolate chips

Garnish:

  • Mini Twix bars, chopped
  • Extra caramel sauce and melted chocolate for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

For the Crust:

  1. Bake mini tart shells according to package directions, remove foil plates, and let cool.

For the Caramel Filling:

  1. Prepare homemade caramel sauce or melt Kraft caramels in 30-second microwave intervals until smooth. Spoon into each tart shell, filling just under halfway, and set aside.

For the Topping:

  1. Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Spoon melted chocolate over the caramel, filling to the top. Top with chopped Mini Twix bars. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
