“Bonjour madame la boulangère! I would like to buy a cake for my blog.
– What a lucky blog! Is this a special occasion?
– Yes, it’s my blog’s first birthday!
– My, how time flies. I remember when your blog was just a tiny thing with only a few posts — and now it’s already one year old?
– I’m very proud, and I’d like to celebrate with a cake. Something small, something chocolate, something pretty and delicious! What do you recommend?
– We have a chocolate and caramel cake, a chocolate and praline cake, a chocolate and green tea cake, and a pure chocolate cake.
– They all look so lovely and tempting. Which do you prefer?
– I think I like the chocolate and chocolate best.
– That sounds like an excellent choice. We’ll take one of those!”
So we placed the little cake on a plate, lit a candle, sang Happy Birthday, blew out the flame, enjoyed a little wine and shared the cake. Happy Birthday, Chocolate & Zucchini!
Thank you, dear readers — whether you’ve been here from the start, just joined, or are passing through. Thank you for reading, for your comments and support. Chocolate & Zucchini has been a wonderful journey for me, and it wouldn’t be the same without you.
No birthday is complete without a gift, so I’ve decided to open forums on Chocolate & Zucchini. I meet so many interesting people here with shared passions that it felt natural to give you a place to gather, chat and share. Go ahead, take a look, make yourself at home, ask questions, offer advice, discuss recipes, cookbooks, restaurants, tips and techniques, or share inspirations.
And there’s more: no birthday is complete without a party. I’m hosting a Chocolate & Zucchini Birthday Party on Monday, October 18, at my friend Nicolas Vagnon’s restaurant, La Table de Lucullus. You’re warmly invited — I would be delighted to meet you in person.
Here are the details: participation is 30€ per guest, payable at the event, which covers dinner and wine selected and prepared by Nicolas and myself. If you’d like to join us, please email me before October 8 with your name, phone number, and the number of guests in your party. I’ll be thrilled to welcome you!
