Delicious Crockpot Cubed Steak with Gravy made from simple, real ingredients — an easy meal to toss together any weeknight.

We try to avoid recipes that rely on canned “cream of” soups, mainly because food allergies in our family limit those options. While canned soup recipes can be convenient, you can get the same comforting flavor using real ingredients. That’s what inspired this Crockpot Cubed Steak with Gravy — a straightforward, allergy-friendly version that tastes even better than the canned alternatives.
Many variations of this dish call for multiple cans and packaged ingredients, but when you compare labels and flavors, it’s easy to substitute fresh or simple pantry items and end up with a richer, cleaner-tasting meal.
How to Make Crockpot Cubed Steak and Gravy
This is one of my favorite no-fuss recipes. Place the cubed steak in the crockpot, season it, add beef broth, and let the slow cooker do its work. The result is tender steak in a savory gravy with minimal hands-on time.
For even better flavor, use a homemade onion soup mix instead of a store-bought packet — it really elevates the dish.
Add Mushrooms and Onions
If you like mushrooms and onions, they can be added directly to the crockpot. I sautéed mine separately because of picky eaters in our house, but adding sautéed mushrooms and sliced onions will boost the flavor and texture. Either way, the dish is delicious and easy to prepare, and it quickly became a fall favorite — there were no leftovers!

What to Serve with Crockpot Cubed Steak
For a complete meal, serve this cubed steak with mashed potatoes and a vegetable or side salad. If you have two crockpots, make Crockpot Mashed Potatoes in the second one while the steak cooks. Crockpot green beans are another great, hands-off side to serve with this dish.
