Homemade Chocolate Syrup (2 Ingredients)

Making chocolate syrup at home is incredibly quick and easy. Store-bought syrups often contain refined sweeteners and additives; this version uses just two wholesome ingredients you probably already have. It comes together in under two minutes and tastes fresh and natural.

Maple syrup is my preferred sweetener because of its depth of flavor, but you can substitute agave or another natural liquid sweetener with a similar consistency. Avoid artificial sweeteners — they won’t produce the right texture or flavor for this recipe.

If you want to experiment, unsweetened raw cacao or carob powder can replace cocoa powder. Raw cacao is more intense and carob is sweeter, so you may need to adjust amounts to taste.

This syrup is versatile: drizzle it on pancakes, waffles or crepes, stir it into plant-based milk for a quick chocolate drink, or use it as a topping for ice cream and fruit.
