Last week I finally got over my fear of baking on camera and recorded my first Facebook Live video. I chose to make Spice Nuts (Kruidnootjes) because it’s a simple recipe and I didn’t want to complicate my first live session.
Preparing for Facebook Live
Although it may not look like it, I did prepare before hitting the “Go Live” button. I invited my mom to help—she filmed while I worked through the recipe. We did a practice run first so she could find the best angles and I could rehearse the steps. Even with that rehearsal, going live was still nerve-wracking. I felt like I sped through the recipe and even mixed up a detail while explaining: I said the dough balls should be the size of a walnut when they’re actually the size of a hazelnut. A small difference, but noticeable when you’re live.
Despite the jitters, I enjoyed the experience. The feedback has been encouraging, and I’m excited to do more Facebook Live sessions and improve with each one. My nephews gave their seal of approval by eating all the cookies.
My first time using Facebook Live
So, what’s the verdict on this first attempt? Would you like to see more live baking sessions? Tell me in the comments below or on Facebook.
