I like to start Monday mornings with something green — it’s my reset after an easygoing weekend. Some weekends include pizza and wine for me, so Monday is a chance to enjoy a bright, nourishing breakfast.
My approach to food is balance: I don’t deny myself treats, but I aim for healthier choices during the week. That often means a matcha, a fresh green juice, or a green smoothie bowl to begin the week well. Below is one of my favourite recipes for a superfood green smoothie bowl.
Adding greens to a smoothie is a great way to boost your veggie intake without feeling like you’re eating a salad. The fruit and creamy texture mask the greens, so you’ll hardly notice them. If you’re new to green smoothies, starting with fruit-forward blends can help you get comfortable with the idea.

I like to boost smoothie bowls with a scoop of superfood powder for extra nutrients. In this recipe I used Sunfood’s “Sun Is Shining” super greens, which blend several greens like chlorella, spirulina and wheatgrass. The mix also supplies vitamin B12, which is helpful for those following a plant-based diet.

A few notes on this recipe:
Use frozen fruit to achieve a thick, creamy texture similar to soft-serve ice cream. You can make this bowl in a food processor or a high-speed blender. For blenders, use a tamper or pulse to push ingredients toward the blades; in a food processor, scrape the sides as needed until smooth.
Top the bowl with fresh fruit, shredded coconut, granola or any toppings you enjoy for added texture and flavor.
