A no-churn Mint Oreo ice cream you can make at home without an ice cream machine.

In Smallsville three kids were feeling bored. Cries of “I’m bored!” echoed down the alleyways until their Super Mom decided to save the day. Knowing they loved sweets, she gathered a few simple ingredients and set out to create a deliciously fun dessert.

Making ice cream at home is easier than you might think and is a great activity to share. Flavour combinations are limited only by imagination. Since the kids love mint and chocolate, this Mint Oreo version got the green Hulk treatment for some smashing kitchen fun.

Mint Oreo Ice Cream
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
1 can sweetened condensed milk
20 Oreo cookies (or mint Oreo cookies)
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
Green food colouring, to taste
Directions
1. Whip the heavy cream in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract and green food colouring. Adjust the colour until you like the shade of green.
3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixture until fully combined.
4. Place the Oreo cookies into a large zip-top bag and, using a rolling pin or meat mallet, smash them until coarsely crushed.

5. Fold the crushed cookie pieces into the cream mixture until evenly distributed.
6. Spread the mixture into a loaf pan and sprinkle a few cookie crumbs on top for decoration.
7. Cover with foil and freeze for at least 5 hours, or until firm.

Waiting for the ice cream to set is the hardest part, but it’s worth it—promise.

The Oreo pieces become soft and chewy in the frozen cream and the mint flavour stays bright, creating a creamy, refreshing treat. The kids enjoyed the Hulk-smash step and are already planning other superhero flavours to try.

If you have little ones, pair the dessert with a favourite song or a few playful superhero jokes to make the moment even more memorable.
